Getting started with exercise can be challenging

There are more times than not when I really don’t want to go to the gym but I just try and remember what I feel like after I’ve been. Here are some tips for incorporating physical activity into your daily routine:

  1. Start small

  1. Begin with just a few minutes of physical activity each day, gradually increasing the duration and intensity of your workouts as you become more comfortable. Even a run, walk or do the school run on foot.

  1. Choose activities you enjoy

  1. The key to sticking with an exercise routine is finding activities you enjoy. Whether it’s running, yoga, or swimming, choose activities that you find fun and rewarding. It’s makes it easier to commit to do something you love. I personally enjoy body combat because of the intensity of exercise I can achieve in just 45 minutes.

  1. Set goals

  1. Setting fitness goals can help motivate you to stick with an exercise routine. Whether it’s running a 5K or completing a yoga challenge, completing a 45 minute gym class; having a goal in mind can help you stay focused and motivated but if you’re anything like me your goal might not be a weight loss or distance goal; it could simply be a minimum of training per week.

  1. Get support

  1. Exercise can be more fun and rewarding when done with others. Consider joining a fitness class or finding a workout buddy to help keep you accountable and motivated. If someone wants to be mine let me know – we all know we’d rather do something for other people than ourselves so if I had someone holding me accountable I’d probably do so much more!

  1. Get dressed in your gym gear!

  1. One way I prepare myself mentally for going to the gym is getting ready first thing IN my gym gear. If I get dressed into normal clothes I’m going to find every excuse to not get changed later on when I’m due to go. Start the day as you mean to go on and you’ll feel more motivated to go.

In conclusion, exercise is a powerful tool for entrepreneurs with ADHD seeking to manage symptoms, improve focus, and achieve greater overall well-being.

By prioritising regular physical activity and incorporating exercise into your daily routine, you can improve cognitive function, reduce stress and anxiety, increase energy and motivation, and enjoy greater success and fulfillment as an entrepreneur.
