Self-employment can be a great way to have more control over your time, work schedule, and earning potential. But it can also be challenging to stay productive when you’re working on your own. Here are three tips to help you stay focused and get the most out of your day when running your own business.

What does it mean to run your own business?

There are a lot of different interpretations to this question. For some, it may mean being a freelancer and working from home. Others may have their own brick-and-mortar business. But no matter what type of business you run, there are certain challenges that come along with it – like staying productive!

Invest in a Planner

One of the best ways to be more productive is to invest in a planner.

This will help you keep track of your tasks, goals, and appointments. Plus, it can be a great way to stay motivated and on track. There are a variety of planners on the market, so find one that works best for you and your needs.

One thing I always suggest to my clients who have online businesses and that so many are still doing; and that’s flitting between physical diaries and online calendars. Choose one or the other – having multiple planners and notebooks on the go is going to cause overwhelm.

Make sure you have white space in your diary

One of the most important things you can do when running your own business is to make sure you have white space in your diary.

This means having time set aside each day or week that is just for you, to work on your business.

It might be an hour in the morning before everyone else gets up, or two hours on a Sunday afternoon.

Whatever it is, make sure you have some time set aside each week to work on your business, uninterrupted.

Plan Ahead

Another way to be more productive when running your own business is to plan ahead.

For me this has been a game changer and why I’m able to give my clients the high touch service and support they need.

Take the time to sit down and think about what you need to do, and when you need to do it.

Look at your capacity too.

It might be helpful to create a weekly or monthly planner, so that you can see at a glance what needs to be done and when and what you actually physically have available to you each month.

Rest and Recharge

Remember to rest and recharge.

It’s easy to burn out when you’re running your own business, so make sure you take some time for yourself.

This might mean taking a break from work to go for a walk or reading a book instead of working on your business plan.

Whatever it is, make sure you take some time for yourself each day or week, so that you can come back to work refreshed and ready to go.

Running your own business can be a great way to have more control over your time, work schedule, and earning potential.

But it can also be challenging to stay productive when you’re working on your own. Working from home is the most challenging thing I personally have ever experienced.

But these tips will help you stay focused and get the most out of your day.

  • Invest in a planner to keep track of your tasks, goals, and appointments.
  • Make sure you have white space in your diary for uninterrupted work time each week.
  • And finally, remember to rest and recharge so that you can come back to work refreshed and ready to go.
